Sgt. William L. Slean, Jr. FRPD, Ret., 90, of Tiverton, formerly of Fall River, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2023. He was the loving husband of Louise L. (Bouchard) Slean.
William (Bill) served the City of Fall River for 30 years as a police officer, earning the rank of Sergeant. He also was head of the Vice and Intelligence Unit for several years.
Previously, Bill served in the Navy as a Gunner’s Mate during the Korean War and then in the Army as a Military Police Staff Sergeant, retiring after 24 years of military service.
Besides his wife of 66 years, he leaves two children, Louise Ann Slean and William L. Slean III (wife Nancy); two grandchildren, Rebecca Lynn Frias (husband Joshua) and Brendan Patrick Slean (wife Sarah) and three great-grandchildren, Connor Joseph Frias, Norah Tenley Frias and Rory William Slean who adored their Gpa.
He was the son of the late William L. Slean, Sr. and Lillian (Graves) Slean.
Bill was an avid New England sports fan, especially the Red Sox and also loved the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He loved to travel with his wife and family and enjoyed many years at his vacation home in New Hampshire and wintering in Florida. Most of all, he dedicated his life to his family as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Bill and Louise’s Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 11 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Trinity Church, Stafford Rd. Fall River. Burial at Massachusetts National Cemetery will be private.
