William Rego, 87, of Woodman St., Fall River, husband of the late Laura (Costa) Rego, died Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at home, surrounded by his family. A Navy veteran of WW II and member of Local 251, Teamsters Union, he was employed by Hemingway Transportation, Red Star Transportation and Nelson Motor Freightways. A member of Good Shepherd Parish, he was Eucharistic Minister, past-president of the Holy Name Society and former secretary and vice-president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society of the parish. He leaves two children, William M. Rego of Tiverton and Mary G. Laporte and her husband Don of Somerset; grandchildren, Christine Ross, Susan Ross, Christopher Laporte and Matthew Laporte (and his wife Christine); great-grandchildren, Katie, Patrick and Rebecca; siblings, Grace Lincoln of Swansea and Louis Rego of Port Orange, FL; and nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Laura M. Ross; the father-in-law of the late Denis Ross; the son of the late Manuel and Adeline (Castanho) Rego; and the brother of the late Arthur, John, Henry, Everett and Madeline Rego. His funeral will be held Saturday at 8:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in Good Shepherd Church at 9:00 AM. Burial, St. Patrick Cemetery. Visitation, Friday, 4:00 to 8:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home.
