William H. "Bill" Kerr, 78, of Swansea, husband of the late Marlene J. (Miller) Kerr, died Monday, November 12, 2007.
A native of Belmont, MA, he lived in Bullhead City, AZ and in West Lake Village, CA and in Swansea for the past 4 years. An IBM systems analyst for many years, he was the founder of Wilmar Co.
An Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he received citations for commendable performance of duty and for demonstrating exceptional ingenuity and resourcefulness in the overall accomplishment of his squadron's mission. He was a member of the American Legion, Post No. 0165, Belmont, MA.
Known for his sense of humor, sharp wit, and flair for delighting children with his magic, he was a friend, mentor and hero to many throughout the nation.
He was the son of the late 16 year Massachusetts State Representative, Edward L. Kerr Sr. and Anna (Wettergreen) Kerr; the father of Carolyn A. Carreiro (husband Dr. A. Keith Carreiro) of Swansea, Terry Hansen of California, Linda Heilbroner and Chris Heilbroner, both of Washington State and the late Vicky Kerr; the grandfather of Daphni, Chelsea, Sage, Shane, Myriah and Eli; great-grandfather of four and brother of the late Professor Edward L. Kerr, Jr. (Bunker Hill Community College) and the late Lieutenant Colonel, Everett O. Kerr (MIA, Viet Nam).
Private funeral arrangements entrusted to Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River.
