William P. Costa

William P. Costa, 77, of Westport, husband of Irene (Torres) Costa, died Thursday, June 11, 2009. An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was employed by South Bay Coat Co., New Bedford. He enjoyed saltwater fishing and "babysitting" the family dogs, "Snuffy" and "Sassy". Besides his wife of 57 years, he leaves a son, Steven Costa and his wife Susan of Westport; grandchildren, Melissa Lucas, Heather Taborda and Kenneth Carvalho, Jr.; 4 great-grandchildren, a sister, Hilda Proulx of Fall River and nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Manuel and Mary (Pacheco) Costa and the brother of the late Mary Medeiros, Virginia Braga, Josephine Lopes, Alice Novak and Alfred, John, Manuel, Maryanne, Ernest and Tom Costa. His funeral will be held Monday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in Our Lady of Grace Church, Westport at 10:00 AM. Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery. Visitation, Sunday 4:00 to 8:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home.
