Walter Donovan

Walter Donovan, 79, of Albion St., Fall River, husband of Josephine (Natale) Donovan, died Friday, November 13, 2009. An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was employed by Stop & Shop Supermarket chain as a shipping and receiving supervisor for over 30 years. In 1983 he was instrumental in the founding of Donovan Electric & Alarm Co. and G & J. Properties in 1992. He was active in assisting with the daily operation of these companies until his passing. He also helped non-profit organizations, such as the Fall River Junior Twilight Baseball League and the Columbus Park Youth Baseball Program with the sale of raffle tickets, which he often referred to as chances.Walter will be greatly missed by his family and the organizations that he helped. Besides his wife of 51 years, he leaves, 2 sons, Jeremiah "Jerry" Donovan and his wife Maura of Fall River and Michael Donovan of Berkley, MA; 2 grandchildren, Christopher and Amanda Donovan; siblings, Mary Paiva and Frank M. Donovan, both of Fall River and Elizabeth Chouinard of Somerset, and nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Jeremiah and Louise (Podesky) Donovan and the brother of the late William and Jeremiah Donovan and Margaret Botelho.
