Walter W. Armburg, Sr.

Walter W. Armburg, Sr., 82, of Somerset, died at home, Sunday, April 15, 2007. He was the husband of Louise (Pimental) Armburg. Born in Lowell, MA, the son of the late Walter Armburg and Doris (Hawkins) Armburg Mullen, he lived in Somerset for the past 53 years. A craftsman and building contractor many years ago, he was later employed by Schwartz Lumber and Nira Warehouse, Fall River. A Navy veteran of WW II, he served in the Atlantic and Pacific and was the recipient of numerous decorations including the European-African-Middle Eastern, China Service and Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbons. He was a member of Post 8500, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Somerset, the American Legion and the National Association of Destroyer Veterans-Tin Can Sailors. Besides his wife of 63 years, survivors include 3 sons, Walter W. Armburg, Jr. of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Michael Armburg and his wife Donna of Westport, MA and Douglas Armburg and his wife Kerry of Swansea; a brother, Edward Mullen of Plymouth; a sister, Catherine Kelly of Hyde Park, MA; grandchildren, Christine Kenney, Jennifer Scott, Megan Armburg, Hailey Armburg and Jason Pacheco; great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Swansea, at 10:00 AM. Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Visitation, Tuesday 4:00 to 8:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA and barrier-free entrance at the rear of funeral home.
