Vivian J. (Bradley) Hurley, 78, of Fall River, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2021. She was fondly known as DeeDee, nicknamed after the charismatic sound that the Maine state bird, the Chickadee, makes.
Born in Portland, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth A. Bradley and Iola (Graham) Bradley. DeeDee grew up in Westbrook, Maine and attended Westbrook High School. She later moved to Boston, MA and then spent much of her life in Manchester, NH. She tended bar on Canal Street where she had many friends and loyal customers who enjoyed her wit and welcome smile. In later years she lived in Worcester, MA before moving to Fall River, MA.
DeeDee absolutely loved nature and animals, especially her cats. She supported several organizations for animals, the environment, and military veterans. In addition to being an avid reader, she loved to play bingo, trips to the casino, the Red Sox and revered the New England Patriots. She was also a huge Neil Diamond fan.
She is survived by her three children, Karen (Hurley) Medeiros and husband, John of Somerset, MA and Center Barnstead, NH; Sean Hurley of Shrewsbury, MA; Michael Hurley of Cornelius, NC; seven grandchildren, Courtney, Ryan, Connor, Kiera, Hannah, Katie and Emma; and her brother, Kenneth A. Bradley, Jr. of Casco, ME.
Private funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Auclair Funeral Home. A celebration of life and graveside burial will take place during the warmer months in Greenville, Maine overlooking Moosehead Lake. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project.
