Vernon Boyd Armitage, 79, of Plain St. Rehoboth, formerly of Fall River, died Thursday, May 31, 2007 at Bedford Village Nursing Home, New Bedford.
He was the husband of the late Mary F. (McDonald) Armitage.
Born in Fall River, the son of the late George Vernon Armitage and Letitia (Boyd) Armitage, he lived in Fall River for many years and in Rehoboth since 1956.
A certified horologist, he was a watchmaker for the Thomas B. Gray Company, Providence and was later employed by Northrop Grumman, Norwood.
He graduated from B. M. C. Durfee High School and the Massachusetts Institute of Trade, Boston.
A firearm enthusiast, he was a member of the Rhode Island Muzzle Loaders Club and the National Rifle Association.
Mr. Armitage was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge A. F. A. M.
A member of Trout Unlimited, he enjoyed fly fishing and tying his own flys. He also enjoyed sailing, gardening and traveling to Florida with his late wife.
He leaves cousins and dear friends.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 AM in the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River.
Burial, Oak Grove Cemetery.
Calling hours Saturday morning prior to service from 9:00 to 10:30 AM
