Tracy (Cowen) Martel

September 19, 1959 — February 2, 2024

Fall River

Tracy (Cowen) Martel, 64, of Fall River, passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, February 2, 2024.

She was a graduate of Joseph Case High School in Swansea. An avid learner, Tracy graduated from BCC with an associate’s in secretarial science and continued taking classes there and later at University of South Florida.

She was the wife of the late and wonderful David D. Martel.

Tracy is survived by her children, Joshua Daniel Martel (wife Jennifer), Matthew David Martel, Zachary Ryan Martel (companion Kelsey), Rebecca Ann Martel (companion Tyler); grandchildren, Miles, Orion, Aaliyah, Julian, Zoey, Delylah, and Zyla; a beloved sister Ruby Laflamme.

She was the daughter of the late George and Eleanor (Botelho) Cowen; and the sister of the late George Cowen and Bob Cowen.

Tracy was very organized and took pride in her career as a secretary in the hospital industry. All of her notes were still written in shorthand, even years after she began her work as a home health aide later in life.

Tracy was proud of her family. She enjoyed spending time with her beloved grandkids and would happily watch them in a moment’s notice. She was especially proud of the parents her children became to their own children. Tracy kept up with her loved ones; she knew the names and birthdays of everybody’s kids as well as what they were doing in life. She made her kids’ friends feel welcome in her home and never showed up to an event empty-handed. She happily attended extended family functions, was quick to help clean up, and always remembered what everyone else forgot.

She loved Reba McIntyre, getting her nails done, playing Bingo at the casino, Oriental Pearl, Ma Raffa’s, and spending time with Ruby in Florida.

A celebration of her life will be announced on Facebook in the near future.
