Theresa M. (Murphy) Peixinho, 82, of Tiverton, passed away Saturday June 29, 2024 at St. Anne’s Hospital after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony P. "Tony" Peixinho and mother of the late Scott Peixinho. Terri was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She dedicated her life and love to her four sons and their families. She was a top ten graduate of the former Mount. St. Mary’s Academy Class of 1959 where she played basketball. She went on to an outstanding career at N.E. Telephone, where she served as the secretary of its union and obtained the position of Central Line Technician, one of the first women in the country to do so.
She was a strong supporter of Tiverton High School athletics, especially its football program. A woman of great faith, she was a communicant of St. Theresa’s Parish and served as a CCD teacher. Terri was a fantastic cook and accomplished seamstress.
She is survived by three sons, Todd C., Brian J., Matthew P. Peixinho (companion Debora Souza); Grandchildren, Clay-Anne Vieira (husband Jimmy), Kristina I. Peixinho and Todd M. Peixinho (companion Kennedy Silva);Great-grandchildren, Elliott and James Vieira; Siblings Patrick Murphy and Luce Murphy, Brother-in-law Richard Michaud;former daughter-in-law Marci Stevenson;
nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Irene (Talbot) Murphy and the sister of the late Sheila Michaud.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 2, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River,
Her funeral will be held Wednesday, July 3, at 9:00 AM from the funeral home with a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St.Theresa Church, Stafford Rd. Tiverton. Burial to follow at Pocasset Hill Cemetery.
