Theresa (Camara) Nordberg

July 10, 1936 — September 10, 2016

Theresa (Camara) Nordberg, a musician, booster of the B.M.C. Durfee High School Marching Band and longtime ceramics teacher, died Saturday, September 10, 2016. She was 80.

A devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother, she was home with her husband of 45 years, James, when she passed away peacefully while resting.

After her family, her biggest loves were arts and education. Music was a centerpiece of her life. Mrs. Nordberg learned to play concert piano in her youth, and went on to teach and play organ.

She was a founding member of the Durfee Band Aides and went on to serve several terms as president of the parent's group that helps raise money and provide support services for the high school music program.

A self-trained trained artisan, Mrs. Nordberg taught ceramics for many years for the Community Development Authority and ran her own ceramics businesses at different times over her lifetime.

She also worked as a bookkeeper in the garment industry and began a career late in life in retail sales. She retired selling books at the campus bookstore at Bridgewater State University, where she was popular with the students for whispering welcome advice on when they should sell back their textbooks at the best price.

Mrs. Nordberg also was politically active, running several local campaigns for Democratic candidates and meeting and chatting backstage with President Bill Clinton during his campaign stop in Fall River in 1996.

She was a proud lifelong resident of Fall River, where she was born in 1936, and loved taking walks along the waterfront with her husband and watching the sun set over Mount Hope Bay.

She leaves behind a daughter, Elizabeth Moriarty, and sons Gregory Bazinet and Kenneth Bazinet, a sister Lorraine Urso and niece Sandra (Urso) Bernier; son-in-law Daniel Moriarty and daughter-in-law Mary Beth Hebert; and grandchildren Cassidy Bazinet, Megan Moriarty, James Moriarty, Gloria Bazinet and Alexander Bazinet.

Private funeral arrangements entrusted to Auclair Funeral Home. Donations may be made to Children's Miracle Network, Boston Children's Hospital, 300 Longwood Ave., Boston MA 02115 or School on Wheels, 100 Laurel St. # 121, East Bridgewater MA 02333.
