Theresa L. (Proulx) Leahy

October 18, 1925 — March 23, 2014

Theresa L. (Proulx) Leahy, 88, of Fall River, widow of M. Patrick Leahy, died Sunday, March 23, 2014. She earned an Associates Degree from Bristol Community College, a Bachelors Degree along with Teacher Certification from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and a Masters Degree in Education from Rhode Island College. She taught contemporary music on the organ for over 25 years, and taught in community service programs at Bristol Community College and was the proprietor of a tutorial service specializing in academic subjects. An avid writer she won national and statewide competitions for her essays and poetry. She was a member of St. Anne Senior Citizens Club and past-president of Post 228, American Legion Auxiliary, Somerset. She leaves 3 children, Patrick B. Leahy of Sacramento, CA, Kevin M. Leahy and his beloved Glenda R. Souza of So. Dartmouth and Anne T. Pirri (late husband Frank J. Pirri) of Somerset; grandchildren, Frank A. Pirri and Nicole R. Pirri; a brother Robert Proulx FRFD, Ret. of Fall River and nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of the late Napoleon Proulx and Augustine (Levesque) Bouvier Proulx and the sister of the late Alice Szurleys, Loretta Tremblay and Rene Bouvier. Her funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River. Burial, St. Mary Cemetery, Bristol, RI. Visitation, Tuesday morning prior to the service from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home. Please omit flowers. Donations may be made to St. Anne Parish, 818 Middle St., Fall River MA 02721.
