Stanley F. "Whitey" Rak

March 21, 1922 — January 23, 2015

Stanley "Whitey" Rak, 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on 1/23/15. Stanley was born in Fall River to the late Frank and Louise Rak. He was married to his late beloved "schatz", Maria Auer, for 56 years. Following his 1939 graduation from BMC Durfee High School, he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the area of Rutland, VT, and later served in Germany during World War II in the U.S. Army. A graduate of Bryant University, Stanley earned a degree in Business Management under the GI Bill. He then worked as a Purchasing Agent for the Navy in Newport, RI and retired as Program Systems Analyst and the Head of Data Processing for the Naval Hospital in Newport, RI. He traveled to naval facilities, including the Naval Hospital in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to install new software and train employees. Stanley was the loving father of Susan Wilding, husband John of Sidney, Ohio, Robert Rak, wife Rosemary of Fall River,and "daughter" Paula Pacheco, husband Rick of Somerset. He was dearly loved by his grandchildren, Jennifer Bogucki, husband Ben; Emily and Marissa Wilding; Andrew and David Rak; and a great granddaughter Elliot Grace Bogucki. He is survived by his brother Walter, wife Marilyn of Ft. Myers, FL and two nieces Kathleen Levy, husband Jim and Kerri-Lyn Haskell. He was preceded in death by his brother Edward Rak. Mr. Rak was a lifelong communicant of St. Stanislaus Church and a member of the St. Stanislaus Seniors, the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Post 102. Stanley loved gardening, fishing and watching his Red Sox. Most recently, he was resident of Somerset Ridge Center and had previously lived at Sakonnet Bay Manor where he enjoyed the camaraderie of his fellow residents and staff. His funeral will be held Monday at 9:00 a.m. from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass at St. Stanislaus Church at 10:00 a.m. Burial, St. Patrick Cemetery. Visitation, Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.. LARGE PARKING AREA & BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Stanislaus Church, 37 Rockland Street, Fall River.
