Stanley W. Karnasiewicz, 84, of Bayview St., Fall River, husband of Constance (Levesque) Karnasiewicz, died Thursday, July 9, 2009.
Stan served in the Army during WW II and was a Special Delivery Messenger for the US Postal Service for 27 years. An all-around athlete and semi-pro duckpin bowler, he competed throughout the Northeast. He was a member of the South End Athletic Club. An activist in city affairs, he served as president of the Concerned Citizens of the South End - an organization responsible for preventing an LNG farm from locating on Bay Street. Stan also served as president of the Blessed Sacrament School Committee.
Besides his wife of 55 years he leaves a daughter, Linda Egan of Bristol, RI; a grandson, Ryan Egan of Boston; a sister, Helen Carvalho of Fall River and nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Brenda Freese; the son of the late Stanislaw and Katarzyna (Beben) Karnasiewicz and the brother of the late Edward, Roman and Joseph Karnasiewicz and Florence Noiseux.
His funeral will be held Monday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in Good Shepherd Church at 10:00 AM. Burial, North Burial Grounds, Bristol, RI.
Visitation Sunday 3:00 to 7:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to Visiting Nurse Assn. (VNA), 502 Bedford St., Fall River MA 02720. Online guest book at AuclairFuneralHome.com.
