Sister Theresa Bisson, OP, 71, of the Dominican Sisters of Hope, died Sunday, May 13, 2012. She entered the novitiate of the Dominican Sisters of Fall River in 1959, making her First and Final Professions in 1962 and 1965. She earned her BA in Elementary Education from the College of the Sacred Hearts, Fall River, and her MA in Adult Education and Family Ministry from Regis University in Denver, CO, continuing her education at Providence College, Bristol Community College and at the State University of New York in Plattsburgh. Sister Theresa taught and was school librarian at Saint Anne Elementary School, Fall River, taught at Dominican Academy, also in Fall River, was principal at Saint Anne School from 1970-1983, was a volunteer counselor at Covenant House in New York City, and a mission worker with the Christian Appalachian Project in Kentucky. She was director of religious education and pastoral associate at St. Brendan Parish, Riverside, RI, pastoral minister at Holy Ghost Parish, Attleboro, MA and administrative assistant and pastoral practitioner for the Office of AIDS Ministry in the diocese of Fall River. Since 1998, Sister Theresa has been coordinator of personal/pastoral services for the Sisters of Mercy of the Northeast, caring for elderly sisters living in assisted living facilities both in Bristol, RI and Attleboro. She leaves siblings, Rudy Bisson of Apison, TN, Paul Bisson of Tiverton, Helen and Robert Bisson, both of Fall River; nieces, nephews and friend Maria Bridges of Attleboro. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (Campbell) Bisson; and the sister of the late Roland and Normand Bisson and Lorraine Poitras. Her funeral will be held Saturday at 10:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. Anne Church at 11:00 AM. Cremation to follow. Visitation, Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM with a Wake Service at 7:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home.
