Shawn P. Diffley, born on September 12, 1959, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away on September 27, 2024 at Hope Health in Providence, Rhode Island.
He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion.
Shawn was a proud graduate of New Bedford High School, where he gained the foundation for a commitment to learn and teach. He then went on to earn his master's in teaching and a degree in mechanical engineering, showcasing his dedication to both education and practical skills. His professional journey brought him to Titleist, where his hard work and passion were evident.
A devoted follower of music, Shawn found joy and solace in the melodies of the Grateful Dead. He embraced the concert culture, traveling the world not only to witness their performances but also to experience the camaraderie and joy that music brings to life. His love for the Grateful Dead was only rivaled by his enthusiasm for sports. A true supporter, he cheered fervently for the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, and Celtics, embodying the spirit of a passionate fan.
He is survived by his loving mother, Pauline E. (Pepin) Fisher; his siblings, Brian Diffley and wife Lucy, Paula Diffley and partner Fran Welch, and James Diffley and wife Lisa. Shawn cherished times spent with his nieces and nephews—Evangeline LeBlanc, Robert LeBlanc, Patrick Sherman, Riley Diffley, Logan Diffley, and Sawyer Diffley—infusing their lives with laughter and love. He was also a proud dog dad, sharing his heart with Keezie and Derby, who brought him immense joy.
Shawn now joins his late father, Francis Diffley, in eternal peace. His memory will forever light up the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him. Although he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his kindness, humor, and unwavering belief in the power of love and music.
