Serafim C. Fernandes

Serafim C. Fernandes, 71, of Fall River, passed away unexpectedly at St. Anne’s Hospital Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

He was the husband of the late Maria C. “Connie” (Medeiros) Fernandes.

Born in Santo Antonio, St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Serafim C. Fernandes and Maria Teresa (Camara) Fernandes.

Serafim served in the Portuguese Army. An avid FC Porto fan, he played soccer in his younger days winning many awards.

He was employed by Priority Finishing and was starting to enjoy his retirement. Serafim also enjoyed traveling to New Hampshire with his family for their camping trips.

Recently in February 2024, Serafim traveled to the Azores, with his daughter, son, and grandson, and took great pride to show his grandson the history and culture of the Azores.

He will be remembered as a man that wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty… enjoying fishing and gardening. Always joking, laughing and having a good time was in his nature.

His family will always remember him at the Holy Ghost feasts…singing, enjoying seeing family and friends and having a great time.

He was a member of the Fall River Sports Club and the Madeira Club.

He made the best Shrimp Mozambique, taking the recipe to the grave.

He leaves his daughter Sandra C. Fernandes (her companion Eric Oliveira); and two sons, Rui E. Fernandes and Kevin Fernandes (wife Melisssa);

His three beloved grandchildren, who he cherished his time with, Dylan J. Fernandes. Aryanna C. Oliveira and Sadie V. Fernandes; and his faithful companion Bergy.

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 2, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

His funeral will be held Monday, June 3, at 9: 00 AM from the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River, with a funeral Mass at Espirito Santo Church, Alden St.  at 10:00 AM.

Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River.
