Sabina E. (Tarazewich) Wilding, 98, formerly a resident of Clifton Inn in Somerset and for 57 years at 52 Snell Street in Fall River, MA, died Tuesday June 23, 2015 in Sidney, Ohio after a brief illness. Sabina was the beloved spouse of John Joseph Wilding, Sr. (deceased) for 62 years of marriage. She was born in Biddeford, Maine, the daughter of the late Stefan and Elizabeth Tarazewich and is predeceased by brothers Stefan Tarazewich (Eyvonne) and Joseph N. Tarazewich (Stella). Sabina leaves two children, Christine McDaniel (late husband Robert) of Newton, Ma and Dr. John J. Wilding, Jr. and his wife Susan (Rak) Wilding of Sidney, Ohio, four granddaughters, Kaila McDaniel, Jennifer Bogucki (husband Benjamin), Emily Wilding and Marissa Wilding and two great-granddaughters, Elliot and Jane Bogucki. Sabina attended nursing training at Maine Medical Center and joined the US Army Nurse Corp in 1941, obtaining the rank of Captain during WWII. She served in the Pacific theater on Hawaii and Saipan. She met her future spouse at Camp Langdon in NH where both were stationed. Although they were assigned in opposite directions (Europe and the Pacific) following the attack on Pearl Harbor, they continued to develop their relationship through their letters. They were reunited after the War and married in 1947. After her wedding, Sabina moved to Fall River and worked as a nurse at St Anne's, Truesdale and Union Hospitals. She also worked for 16 years as an industrial nurse at United Merchants-Arkwright. Sabina had a happy and caring personality and enjoyed meeting and getting to know people from all walks of life. A long time communicant of Saints Peter and Paul parish, she was quick to volunteer her time at church functions and at the school. She and her husband served school lunchs and helped develop a program of "guardian angels" to support the students. She was a Den Mother for Cub Scout Pack 17 and was a founding member of the "Sew and Sew" club. She was also a recipient of the Marian Medal. Sabina saw life as an adventure and lived everyday with enthusiasm and wonder. She loved spending time with her family, traveling, gardening, crafts, reading, hosting parties and especially enjoyed a good parade. In her 97th year, she was the Grand Marshall of the Apple Festival parade in Sidney, Ohio, chosen for the honor as the oldest woman veteran in Shelby County at the time. As a resident of Clifton Inn, Sabina created many beautiful painting through the art lesson program there, which are treasured by her family. She cherished every moment and had a consistent answer for how the day was, "it was good". She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her funeral will be held Monday June 29th at 7:00 a.m. from the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So.
