RuthAnn “Ruthie” Rogers, 75 years old, lost her final fight after her third battle against lung cancer. She was a Fall River resident who spent over 50 years on Columbia Street. A waitress, she had managed Ann's Coffee Shop at the former South Main Place throughout the '80s and also worked at Rogers Hot Dogs, Pub 99, (just to name a few) and the Ukrainian National Home “The Uke”, on Globe St. for 10 years until it’s closing.
Ruthie loved shopping, corny Lifetime movies, Dunkin Donuts, coffee and music. If music was playing, she was guaranteed to be snapping her fingers singing along. She loved to laugh. She could always find a way to make people laugh without even trying. She always took pride in her appearance. There was never a hair out of place or a wrinkle on her clothes. Earrings, lipstick on, nails done to perfection, because she wouldn't leave the salon unless they were. She loves shoes, sneakers, purses, perfume, and body sprays. Whenever she drove by Somerset Creamery, she had to stop for a coffee malt (extra extra malt) and enjoyed every last sip. But there's nothing in this world she loved more than being a Nana, which she was fantastic at.
She is survived by her daughter, Holly Grimsley; granddaughter Sierra Grimsley (Aaron Cabral); her godchildren Steven Rogers Jr. and Katie Costa; sister-in-law and best friend Joni Rogers (Steve Sr.); Holly's best friend, Bob Costa, who was more like a son to her.
Her dog Bailey, now deceased, had a special place in her heart and was a true, dedicated furry companion.
She was predeceased her husband, William H. “Billy” Rogers, and her first husband, Holland W. Grimsley (1975) and her parents, Lawrence and Ruth (Kitchen) Fonseca, and her cousin Christine Gillet.
A special shout out to some amazing girls for their patience, compassion and going above and beyond for Mom.. Faith, Melissa, Brianna, Kim, Jowanna, Novea, Bella, Sally and Clarissa. She is also survived by her son William H. Rogers Jr. and was the grandmother of Chantelle Rogers.
