Russell Cookson, 60, of Maple Lane, Lake Helen, Florida, formerly of Fall River, died January 31, 2007 at Florida Hospital in DeLand, Florida.
He was the husband of Mary Lou (Sliwa) Cookson.
Born in Fall River, the son of the late Sydney and Mabel (Lang) Cookson, he moved to Florida in 1997.
Mr. Cookson was employed as a field supervisor for Creative Touch Interiors, DeLand, Florida and previously was employed for 25 years by ABC Floor Covering in Westport, MA.
He served in the Army National Guard, Company A, 109th Signal Battalion, Fall River.
His hobbies included fishing and watching NASCAR and football games.
He, along with his wife were members of C.E.R.T. (Community Emergency Response Team) in Lake Helen, Florida.
He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in De Bary, Florida.
Besides his wife of 34 years, he leaves 3 children, Patrick Cookson of Swansea; David Cookson of Fall River, and Melissa Bell (and her husband Christopher) of Fall River; a granddaughter, Mackenzie Bell of Fall River;
4 brothers, Donald Cookson of Swansea, Kenneth Cookson of Westport; Richard Cookson of Fall River and Wayne Cookson of Somerset;
a sister, Ruth Rodrigues of Westport, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Barbara Hardy.
Visitation Saturday, February 10th from 11 AM to 2 PM in AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 S. Main St. Fall River, followed by a funeral service in First Congregational Church, 282 Rock St. at 3 PM.
LARGE PARKING AREA and barrier-free entrance at the rear of funeral home. Please omit flowers.
