Roy M. Geggatt, Jr., RN, 72, of Tiverton, formerly of Somerset, husband of Elaine A. (Perry) Geggatt, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017.
A member of Somerset High School, Class of 1962, he graduated from the Diman Regional School of Practical Nursing in 1976. A Registered Nurse he earned his Associates of Science in Nursing Degree from Bristol Community College, with great pride along with his son, in 1986 and was employed by the Truesdale, Union, Charlton Memorial and St. Luke's hospitals for over 40 years. Dance instructors, he and his wife taught dance as the Lil-Bit Country Dancers.
Besides his wife of 45 years, he leaves four children, William Tavares and his wife Dixie of Tiverton, Donna Costa and her husband James of Dartmouth, Andrea Griffin and Michael Nelson of Dartmouth and Erika Prince and her husband Joshua of Somerset; grandchildren, Andrew Tavares, Lauren Tavares, Joshua Costa, Tyler Griffin, Allison Griffin, Savannah Peirce and Abigail Prince; siblings, Janice C. Campos of Rochester, Thomas Geggatt of Texas and Jonathan Geggatt of West Bridgewater; brothers-in-law, John Perry of Taunton and Edward Perry of Florida; nieces, nephews and a close knit group of lifelong friends whom he considered as family.
He was the son of the late Roy M. Geggatt, Sr. and Dorothy L. "Dot" (Laycock) Geggatt Gustafson and the stepson of the late Philip C. Gustafson and Mildred A. Geggatt.
Visitation, at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, Wednesday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM with a funeral service at 7:00 PM. Large parking area & barrier-free entrance at the rear of funeral home. Please omit flowers. Donations may be made to the Herald News Holiday Fund, 207 Pocasset St., Fall River MA 02721.
