Rosemary Morrissette (Mcbride) Cornell

Rosemary (McBride) Morrissette Cornell, 69 of Annandale, NJ, formerly of Fall River died on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at Independence Manor, Raritan Township, NJ surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Colorado Springs, CO, December 31, 1946, Rosemary had lived in Annandale for the past two years, having formerly lived in St. Augustine, FL, Allamuchy, NJ, Rockaway Township, NJ and Fall River.

Rosemary was a driven, independent, goal-oriented woman who started her first marriage in a traditional homemaker role before deciding to pursue a career in accounting. While raising a family, she obtained a college degree from Montclair State University, passed the CPA exam, and started climbing the corporate ladder in the accounting division at Chubb Insurance. At a time when few women reached senior management positions, Rosemary served as Vice-President and head of internal audit for the Chubb Group for several years before retiring to St. Augustine, Florida.

Deriving great enjoyment from sewing, Rosemary used her skills to make many beautiful and elaborate gifts for friends and family. In addition to spending time with her sons and grandchildren, Rosemary always treasured the time with her dear cousins and childhood companions, Lea and Rita. She could also be found on the golf course where she always enjoyed playing with her friends.

A devoted mother to her two sons Paul and Glenn, Rosemary instilled in both an uncompromising standard of excellence that brought her enormous pride in their accomplishments.

After being diagnosed with cancer, Rosemary returned to New Jersey to spend more time with her granddaughters and sons while obtaining treatment. Courageous in the face of an aggressive disease, to the very end she remained most concerned with its impact on those she loved and died peacefully with her cherished sons by her side.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Marie Anne (Sirois) LaFlamme Dugal, who served as her primary parental figure growing up and instilled in her many of the values which made her the dynamic person she is and always will be as her legacy is carried on by all those who knew and loved her.

She leaves to cherish and nurture this legacy a son, Glenn Morrissette; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Wendy Morrissette; three granddaughters, Courtney, Lauren, and Julia Morrissette; her dear cousins, Lea Peterson and Rita Refkowsky; her Uncle Arthur LaFlamme and Aunt Mildred LaFlamme; her Goddaughter, Robyn Latessa; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

A gathering, celebration of life and sharing of reflections will be held at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River for family and local close friends.
