Ronald G. "Chag" Chagnon, 63, of Hortonville Rd. Swansea, died Monday, April 30th , 2007 at home after a 2 year fight against pancreatic cancer. Through it all, he was determined to make the most of each day, sharing his fishing, gardening, haying, chicken and woodcutting adventures. Ron was an inspiration to his family and friends as he "lived with cancer".
He was the husband of Lela (Ernst) Farrell.
Born in Fall River, the son of the late Louis O. and Juliette (Cote) Chagnon, he spend his childhood living in Somerset and has lived in Swansea for the past 34 years.
He retired 2 years ago after working 43 years at the Brayton Point Power Station, Somerset where he was a maintenance mechanic. He had previously worked at the former Chagnon Shell Station, Somerset.
He was a loving and caring husband, father, brother, son, uncle and friend and know for his great sense of humor.

Besides his wife, he leaves a step-mother, Leonie (Fournier) Pelletier-Chagnon of Fall River; 2 sons, Leo P. Chagnon and his wife Audrey of Pomfret, CT; Emile J. Chagnon and his wife Trina of Aliquippa, PA; a step-son, Hillary Farrell and his partner Dalen of Dighton; a step-daughter, Rayna Granger and her husband Bill of Des Plains, TN; a brother, Louis "Butch" Chagnon of Somerset, 3 sisters, Pauline Miozza of Louisville, KY, Diane Pelletier of Swansea and Denise Leroux of Randolph, VT, 9 grandchildren, Kristine MacDonald, Lauren, Nicholas and Victoria Chagnon; Shannon Granger, Kayla, Zachery, Haley and Jamie;
a great-grandson, Kevin MacDonald; and many nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, calling hours will be held Thursday, May 10th from 4 to 8 PM in Auclair Funeral Home, 690 S. Main St. Fall River. LARGE PARKING AREA and barrier-free entrance at the rear of funeral home.
A funeral mass will be held Friday, May 11th at 10 AM in St. Louis de France Church, Buffington St., Swansea.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, 502 Bedford St. Fall River, MA 02720
