Romeo J. "Bucky" Charest

Romeo J. "Bucky" Charest, 87, of No. Main St., Fall River, husband of Jeannette (Tache) Charest, died peacefully, Saturday, January 5, 2007, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Romeo was a kind, gentle and unselfish man whose focus in life was the happiness of others. Born in Fall River, the son of the late Alphonse and Blanche (Gregoire) Charest, he resided both in Fall River and Somerset during various years in his life. A pioneer in bringing television to this area, he established the family business of Eastern Television in 1948. Bucky was a member and past-president of Club Richelieu, a member of the Franco-American Civic League and a former member of the Exchange Club. Besides his wife of 67 years, he is survived by 2 daughters, Mariette V. Paine and her husband Stanley of Westport, MA and Jeannine Michalewich and her husband Mel of Somerset and Vero Beach, FL; 2 sons, Marc R. Charest and his wife Barbara of Fall River and Paul R. Charest and his wife Judith of Somerset; 5 grandchildren, Marc, Paul and Andrea Charest, Melinda Paine-Dupont and Laurie Paine; 4 great-grandchildren, Isabel and Olivia Charest and Amelia and Alexander Dupont; siblings, Yvette Belisle and Doris Morin, both of Tiverton, Rev. Roger Charest, SMM of Bay Shore, LI, NY, Reina Morin of Maryland and Henry Charest and Lorraine Doucette, both of Fall River and nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Robert Charest. His funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. Anne Church at 10:00 AM. Entombment, Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation, Tuesday 4:00 to 8:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA & BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Diabetes Assn., PO Box 1525, Fall River MA 02722.
