Roland W. Bisson

Roland W. Bisson, 81, of Fall River, died Wednesday, October 15, 2008. A Fall River native, he lived in Australia for many years. A Navy veteran of WW II and a graduate of Msgr. Prevost High School and Providence College, he was Administrative and General Services Officer in the Foreign Service of the USA, serving in India, Liberia, Haiti and Togo. He later served in executive positions in San Francisco, with the American Cancer Society and John Hancock Insurance Co. and in Australia with the Albury-Wodonga YMCA, the Mayne Nickless Armaguard and the International College of Chiropractic. He leaves 2 children, Fiona Marie Staerker and Peter Roland Bisson and a granddaughter Lija Marie Staerker, all of Australia; siblings, Rudolph T. Bisson and his wife Lorraine of Apison, TN, Paul R. Bisson and his wife Jean of Tiverton, RI, Dominican Sister Theresa L. Bisson, OP of Attleboro, MA, Helene J. Bisson and Robert J. Bisson, both of Fall River and over 50 nieces and nephews. He was the husband of the late Bettine (Baker) Bisson, the son of the late Joseph T. and Maria F. (Campbell) Bisson and the brother of the late Lorraine J. Poitras and Normand S. Bisson. His funeral will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. Anne Church at 11:30 AM. Cremation to follow. Visitation, Wednesday morning prior to the funeral from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home.
