Roger A. Vezina

Roger A. Vezina, 79, of Clarkson St., Fall River, husband of 41 years of the late Margaret (Harrington) Vezina, died Wednesday, January 5, 2011. He would have celebrated his 80th birthday January 23. Roger served his county as a member of the US Air Force, worked as a cutter for Chesterfield Dress and various other manufacturing companies, was sexton at Sacred Heart Church, and worked for his brother at the Sterling Package Store and for Edgar's Ambulance Service. Active at St. Mary Cathedral Parish during the 1960's and 1970's, he was the proud recipient of the Marion Medal. He was Scoutmaster for Troop 35, St. Mary's Cathedral, Boy Scouts of America. He was an avid fan of the New England sports teams and enjoyed watching figure skating and golf. He was cared for by the dedicated staff at the Jarabek Center at Charlton Memorial Hospital for many years. He was the son of the late Albert R. and Marie (Grenier) Vezina; the father of Michael D. Vezina (wife Michelle), his loyal caregiver, of Fall River, Margaret M. Vezina (wife Jackie Humphreys) of Holyoke, MA, and John F. Vezina (wife Maureen) of Marshfield, MA; the grandfather of Daniel, Julie, Michael, Matthew, Scott, and the late Kelli-Ann Vezina; the father-in-law of Cynthia Vezina of Uxbridge, MA; and the brother of Pauline Houde, Jeanne Pichette and Beatrice Houde, all of New Bedford, Delores Gagne of Westport, MA, Gertrude Galego of Swansea, Donald Vezina of Fall River, and the late Jacqueline Martel, Madeleine Houde, his twin Paul Vezina, Normand Vezina, Albert R. Vezina, Jr. and Maurice Vezina. His funeral will be held Friday at 10:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. Mary Cathedral at 11:00 AM. Burial, St. Patrick Cemetery. Visitation, Friday morning prior to the funeral from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home. Please omit flowers.
