Robert Simard

Robert Simard, TFD, Ret. , 82, of Tiverton, husband of the late Jacqueline "Jackie" A. (Poulin) Simard, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2020 after a hard fought battle with lung cancer.

Bob was proud to serve as a Firefighter for the Town of Tiverton for 30 years. In addition, he worked part-time on houses and boilers until his retirement. Being someone who could never sit still, he spent his free time fishing, painting, and playing Bingo and Keno.

Bob was known as a tough man who didn't take nonsense from anybody. Bob did whatever he wanted and never left his family without a good story. Although his fiery personality was well known, he will also be remembered for his generosity, his big heart and kind caring ways. Bob took care of both his late wife and son before their passing and he spent the remainder of his years making sure his remaining family and friends never went without.

He is survived by two granddaughters, Lauren C. and Alexa M.; a daughter-in-law, Denise M. all of Middletown, RI and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Robert M. Simard and the son of the late Alfred and Christina (Estrella) Simard.

Private funeral arrangements entrusted to the Auclair Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
