Robert C. Sampson, Sr.

Robert C. Sampson, Sr., 92, of Swansea, formerly of Spring St., husband of the late Eva B. (Saleem) Sampson, died Saturday, May 22, 2010. A chef, he was employed by Copicut Lodge, Princeton Diner, Grand Diner, White's Restaurant and the Venus deMilo. An Army veteran of WW II and recipient of numerous decorations including the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart Medal and European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, he was a Charter Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2045 and American Legion, Post 303, Swansea. He was an avid Red Sox fan. He leaves 5 children, Robert C. Sampson, Jr. and his wife Connie, Kenneth Sampson and Donna Hipolito and her husband Fred, all of Swansea, Beverly Ann Anderson and her husband Charles of Palm Bay, FL and Eva Carreiro and her companion James Violette of Fall River; a daughter in law Deborah Sampson of Swansea; grandchildren, Alfred, Kevin, Steven and Melissa Hipolito, Debbi Goodrue, Sue Rombola, Charles Anderson, Robert, Eric, Kenny and Justin Sampson, Jennifer Santos and John, Chris and Scott Foley; and many great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River. Burial, Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation, Tuesday 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
