Robert T. Machado

Robert T. Machado, 72, of Westport, formerly of Fall River, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2014. He was surrounded by his loving family at home after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the husband of Shirley A. (Heywood) Machado. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Frank A. and Alice (Oliveira) Machado. Robert (Bob) was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School, Class of 1960 and is a member of the Athletic Hall of Fame, inducted in 2003. He was very proud of this honor. Bob also studied at the University of Rhode Island and was employed by CPI Controls, Pawtucket, RI, before retiring in 2008. A sports enthusiast, he enjoyed attending his grandchildren's athletic events, especially football. He was a past member of the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Basketball Officials and former member of the Fall River Country Club. He enjoyed carpentry, golfing, boating, traveling, and landscaping. Along with his wife of 48 years, he leaves two children, Danielle M. Costa and her husband Christopher of Westport and Robert T. Machado II of Shanghai, China. His beloved grandchildren are Madison Shirley Costa, Brendan C. Costa and Christopher J. Costa II. His funeral was private.
