Robert L. Goddu, 80, of Tiverton, RI, son of the late Honorer H. and Dolores J. (Gagnon) Goddu, died peacefully at Charlton Memorial Hospital, Tuesday, May 19, 2015. A member of St. Christopher Parish, Tiverton, and graduate of BMC Durfee High School, Class of 1954, he studied at the former Bradford Durfee Institute of Technology. He worked at the Naval Underwater Systems Center (NUSC), Newport, RI as a Statistical Assistant. Bob served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Era from 1957 to 1961 and was a Life Member of the American Legion, Post 37, Little Compton, RI, the DAV Rhode Island Chapter 15 and the VFW Post 15041. He was especially proud of his "Brother Knights" Bishop Cassidy Council 3669, Swansea, MA and the Fourth Degree Bishop Stang Assembly 392. Bob was also a former District Deputy for the State of Massachusetts. He was also a former member of the Innitou Ski Runners Ski Club, Glen, NH for many years and was on the Board of Directors of the Dadson Mobile Home Owners Association, Tiverton. Bob enjoyed collecting lighthouses, doing word search puzzles, fish fri's at St. Christopher Church during lent, luncheons with the NUSC Retirees and the Over the Hill Gang and most of all his Boston Red Sox. He especially enjoyed the company of his extended family - Suzanne, Jonathan, Amy, Lauren, Addison and good friends JoAnn and Fred. Bob is survived by two sisters, Ellen G. Thibault and her husband George R. of Westport, MA and Suzanne E. Goddu of Fall River, MA; godchildren, Paul A. Thibault, Raymond R. Goddu, Jr., Jonathan R. Goddu and Desiree Rogers; 7 nephews, 3 nieces, 9 great nephews, 9 great nieces, 4 great-great nephews and 3 great-great nieces. He was the brother of the late Major Raymond R. Goddu, USAF (Ret.) and his wife the late Claire M. (Bernier) Goddu-Mathieu. His funeral will be held Saturday at 8:15 a.m. from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass at St. Christopher Church, Tiverton, at 9:30 a.m. Entombment, Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation, Friday from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. LARGE PARKING AREA & BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home.
