Robert O. Gendron, 83, of Westport, MA, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023 after a long battle with Dementia. Born on March 14, 1939 to the late Alfred A. and Loretta (Ratte) Gendron. He was the husband of Louise (Gamache) Gendron.
He graduated from Monsignor Coyle High School, class of 1956 and he attended Indiana Technical College. He was employed as a Civil Engineer for the State of Massachusetts for 40 years, retiring in 2000. Robert and Louise met in the summer of 1955 in Westport MA while he spent his summers on the pond. They married in 1962 and raised 6 children. He was involved in coaching his 3 sons in the Somerset Little League and was instrumental in the design of the Somerset Little League Complex. Robert’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. He built a vacation home with his friends in the late 1960s and spent many weekends with his family skiing, sledding, and enjoying New Hampshire. Robert also cherished his lifelong friends and the time he spent playing cards and enjoying their time in NH.
Besides his wife of 60 years, he leaves six children, Diana McGrath (husband Gary), Denise Coombes (husband Richard), Robert Gendron (wife Elizabeth), Steven Gendron (wife Tracie), Donna Mair (husband Scott), Eric Gendron (wife Rebekah); grandchildren, Garrett, Shannon, Brianna, Corrine, Brian, Lauren, Rachel, Connor, Ella, Lindsay, Hailey, Kiley, Jaycie, Camille, Stephen, Vivienne; several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joanne Bernard.
His Funeral Mass will be held Monday, February 27th at 11 A.M. at Our Lady of Grace Church, Sanford Rd. Westport. The family will receive guests starting at 10:00 A.M. at the church.
Burial at Notre Dame Cemetery.
