Robert J. Couture, 75, of So. Main St., Fall River, husband of the late Lucille "Lucia" (Luongo) Couture, died Friday, May 8, 2009.
He and his late wife owned and operated the former Lucia's Pizza Shoppe, So. Main St., for 27 years and he was employed by the former LaFleur's New System Bakery many years ago.
He served in the Army and the Massachusetts Army National Guard. He enjoyed cooking and was a Niagara and North End Senior Center volunteer.
He leaves a son, Robert K. Couture of Westport, MA; 2 granddaughters, Crystal Couture of Little Compton and Jacquelyn Couture of Tiverton; 2 great-grandsons, Dylan and Matthew Willis; siblings, Theresa Gutowski and Peter Couture, both of Fall River; his companion Anne Rankin and nieces and nephews.
He was the son of the late Paul and Merilda (Levasseur) Couture and the brother of the late Loretta Coderre, Therese Poliquin and Alban, Arthur, Benoit, Elizee "Eli", Joseph and Normand Couture.
His funeral will be held Monday at 10:30 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in Good Shepherd Church at 11:30 AM. Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery.
Visitation, Sunday 5:00 to 8:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham MA 01701 would be appreciated.
