Robert E. Hyde Frpd (Ret.)

Robert E. Hyde, FRPD (Ret.) 74, of Fall River, husband of Shirley A. (Ballard) Hyde, passed away Friday, March 9, 2018.

He was a 28 year member of the Fall River Police Department, a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and an avid wrestler and New York state wrestling champion. He and his wife were foster parents for over 30 years and are remembered for the love they had for their foster children over the years.

Besides his wife of 51 years, he leaves three children, Joanne Robidoux and her husband John, Lee Anne Silvia and her husband Christopher and Carey Kerrigan and her husband Trey; grandchildren, Janelle Gray (James), Justin Moniz (Amanda), Joslyn Moynagh, Ethan Moynagh, Brooke Leary (Jared) and JT and Adam Kerrigan; great-grandchildren, James and Jake Gray and Kendall Joslyn Leary: siblings, Ruth Rogers, Beverly Olyer, Joan Zumbo, Donald Hyde and Coralee Wilkerson and many nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late William and Pearl Hyde and the brother of the late Charles Hyde.

Visitation, WEDNESDAY from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River. Large parking area & barrier-free entrance at the rear of funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ronald McDonald House, 45 Gay St., Providence RI 02905.
