Rita Thibault

Rita Thibault, age 88, of Fall River, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Adams House. She was the wife of the late Roger "Pete" Thibault.

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Oliver "Toots" and Antoinette M. (Charest) Parent, she lived in Fall River most of her life and moved to Somerset in 2004 until 2016. Mrs. Thibault was a member of The International Ladies Garment Workers' Union. She worked as a seamstress at Rondo Knit Sportswear until the business closed. She was an excellent seamstress, often making clothing for her daughters and herself. Rita worked at Data Packaging in Somerset where she retired in 1989. Rita was enthusiastic in playing Bingo and trips to Foxwoods and Atlantic City with Roger. Her hobbies included cross-stitch, crocheting and making her grandchildren blankets.

She is survived by three daughters: Lynn Lawrence and her husband Bill of Somerset, Jean Thibault and her partner Kathy Carey of Hollis, ME, and Susan Furtado and her late husband Jesse of Swansea; one sister, Doris Souza of Fall River; 6 grandchildren, Rebecca (Lawrence) Tavares, Scott Lawrence, Kerrie (Furtado) Almeida, Jamie Furtado, Jesse Furtado, and Michelle (Furtado) Cabral, 7 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Norman "Bobo" Parent and Philip Parent and Theresa "Terry" M. Bernier and the grandmother of the late Jason Furtado.

The family would like to thank Phil and Joanne Cabral and their family for their hospitality and friendship, opening their home to Rita on holidays and special occasions, along with frequent visits at Rita's home, hospital or nursing home. The family also wants to extend thanks to agencies: Home Instead, Happier In My Home and One Solution for providing personal care and in Rita's request to stay living at her home for as long as possible. Only with their help she was able to do so. Last, Lynn would like to thank the staff at Adams House; Laurie, Gail and all nursing and aide staff. They provided support, a listening ear and the best care.

Her funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River. Burial will be private at a later time.

Visitation, Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Large parking area and barrier-free entrance at the rear of the funeral home.
