Richard E. Sherman, Sr.

Richard E. Sherman, Sr., 81, of Hancock St., Tiverton, died Thursday, February 14, 2008. He was the beloved husband of 61 years of the late Marjorie E. (Lannan) Sherman who died January thirteenth of this year. A Navy veteran of WW II and lifetime commercial fisherman out of New Bedford, MA and Newport, RI, he was a member of the New Bedford Fishermen's Union and the Mt. Hope Masonic Lodge. He leaves, a son, Richard E. Sherman (Karen) of Broad Brook, CT; 4 daughters, Linda Monte (Barry) of Acushnet, MA, Patricia Mellekas (Ted) of Tiverton, RI, Susan Blair (Larry Burgess) of Newport, RI and Joan LaBombard of New Smyrna Beach, FL; siblings, Patricia Maines and John Sherman, both of No. Dartmouth, MA;13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Nancy and Jacqueline Sherman, the son of the late Albert and Grace (Wilkinson) Sherman and the brother of the late Gloria Eskeland and Albert, Charles, Theodore, Donald "Bob" and David Sherman. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held Saturday, February 23 at 11:00 AM in the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River.
