Richard R. Pelletier, 76, of Fall River, died Saturday September 2, 2023 at Morton Hospital in Taunton. He was the husband of Deborah (Boulay) Pelletier. Besides his wife of 46 years, he leaves a daughter Christine Southgate (husband C. Scott), two sisters, Muriel C. Hamel and Jacqueline Pelletier, all of Fall River. He was the son of the late Joseph Armand Pelletier and Irene (Beauchesne) Pelletier, and brother of the late Pauline DeGagne.
Richard attended Ste. Anne’s School, Prevost High School, La Salette Seminary, and the Fall River Beauty Academy.
He served in the U.S. Navy, stationed at Naval Station Great Lakes. He was the proud owner of Mr. Richard’s Uni-Shop since 1974. He loved serving and befriending all of his customers.
He served as a member of the B.M.C. Durfee High School Cosmetology Advisory Board, and was the past president of the Fall River Cosmetology Association. Richard was a former director of The Allegro Glee Club, Heritage Park Singers, Heritage Park Junior Chorus, Showcase Singers, and Sts. Peter and Paul Parish choir. He was past Chair and Entertainment Chair of Fall River Celebrates America and First Night – Fall River. He was also the Co-chair of the Fall River Bicentennial Committee.
A member of the Little Theatre of Fall River since 1965, he was an actor, director, and past president. He was a member and past chair of the Fall River Cultural Council.
Richard loved cooking and entertaining for his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his little buddy, Merlin, his grand puppy. He looked forward to his trips to the casino. His true passion was music and the arts. He took great pleasure in brightening people’s day and sharing in a laugh. Richard was a parishioner for many years at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish and currently a communicant of Holy Trinity Parish.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 6 from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River. His funeral will be held Thursday, September 7 at 9 AM from the funeral home with a Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Cathedral, Spring St. Fall River, at 10 AM. He will be entombed at Notre Dame Cemetery.
