Richard Melancon

Richard "Papa" Melançon, 70, of Watuppa Rd., Westport, husband of Johanne (Sousa) Melançon, died Monday, May 23, 2011. An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he was employed by Hasbro Toy Co. for 27 years. An avid fisherman, he enjoyed swimming. Besides his wife of 49 years, he leaves two daughters, Kristin Pimentel and her husband Agostinho of Westport, and Kimberley Medeiros and her husband Steven of Tiverton; five grandchildren, Devon and Hannah Medeiros and Aiden, Christopher and Sophia Pimentel; a brother, Ronald Melançon and his wife Fatima of Swansea; a sister-in-law Marie Audet and her husband George of Fall River; and nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Edmund and Mabel (Plunkett) Melançon. His funeral will be held Thursday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in Good Shepherd Church, at 10:00 AM. Cremation to follow. Visitation, Wednesday, 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
