Rene L. Banville

Rene L. Banville, 87, of Somerset, husband of the late Therese (Banville) Banville, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019.

He was employed by Fall River Gas Company for 32 years, retiring in 1993.  A graduate of Monsignor Prevost High School, Class of 1950, he was especially proud of being inducted into its Basketball Hall of Fame.  He was a New England sports fan. Rene was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include three children, Paul R. Banville, Gerald R. Banville (wife Tracy) and Karen M. Fernandes (husband Joseph); five grandchildren, Erin and Brian Banville, Christine Banville, Corey and Tyler Fernandes; three great-grandchildren, Kyle and Evan Monast and Gage Banville, many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Lorraine Heroux, Evelyn Bouchard and Richard, William, Roland, Roger, Raymond and Robert Banville and the son of the late William and Emma (Robitaille) Banville.

His funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Auclair Funeral Home, 690 S.Main St.Fall River. Burial, Mass.National Cemetery. Visitation Monday morning from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
