Raymond James Moquin

May 25, 1935 — November 11, 2023

Raymond James Moquin, 88, was born on May 25, 1935, in Fall River, Massachusetts, and departed this earth on November 11, 2023, after a brief illness. He was the beloved son of Raymond S. Moquin and Elsie C. Lundy Moquin and the oldest son in a loving family. Raymond leaves behind a legacy of family and love. He was the cherished husband of Jeannine L. Laroche, and together, they celebrated 54 years of marriage before her passing. They are now reunited in eternity.

Raymond and Jeannine were blessed with four children: Charlene Sylvia (Michael) of Utah, Sharon Dawson (Eric) of Washington, Raymond P. Moquin (Suzanne) of Massachusetts and James M. Moquin (Betsy) of Pennsylvania. He was a very proud grandfather to twelve grandchildren and additionally he leaves behind twenty great-grandchildren, whom he adored, with one more great grand daughter due in April 2024.

Raymond’s life was marked by his passion for floral design, dedicating over 35 years to the craft. He generously shared his talents by creating Christmas wreaths for family and friends, making Christmas chocolates with grand daughters and spreading the joy of the season. Dad started making chocolate chip pancakes, and lovingly began calling it Pancake Sunday. The tradition was begun and was always enjoyed by all who were present, especially the grandchildren. He and Jean loved listening to Nat King Cole, Anne Murray and others as they danced together in the kitchen. Together they also enjoyed square dancing lessons, ballroom dancing and could be seen at weddings doing the Polka. He embraced his French and Irish heritages, enjoying french cuisine made by his sweetheart and celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with a red beard, green hats, Irish songs and bringing shamrock plants home for his children.

As a teenager, Raymond enjoyed playing handball and developed a love for watching sports, particularly New England baseball and football. He honorably served his country in the United States Army National Guard. Ray reveled in going to the beach and later swimming in his backyard pool. Summer vacations were always looked forward to as Dad and Mom always packed in 2 weeks of family fun. He was also known for his skillful ice skating, effortlessly gliding through figure 8's on the ice. Despite his failing eyesight and hearing he still enjoyed listening to audio books. His favorite treats included blueberries, rice pudding, coffee ice cream, and spice drops. Ray was a hardworking man of unwavering honesty, humility, and trustworthiness. He instilled these virtues in his children and encouraged others to prioritize kindness and goodwill over mere material success. He cherished daily calls from his children and appreciated the daily dedicated care provided by his son, Raymond, grand daughter Maddie and all his family that lived nearby.

Raymond also enjoyed daily chats at the end of his day with his cousin Jacqueline Levesque and will be deeply missed by all his family and friends. His memory will continue to inspire those who knew him to live with the same spirit of love, kindness, and authenticity that he embodied. Raymond is survived by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers, Robert Moquin (Dixie), of NewYork, William Moquin of Rhode Island and Walter Moquin (Debbie) of Florida and many cherished friends and extended family members.
