Raymond T. "Ray" Marchand

January 16, 1923 — July 18, 2013

Raymond T. "Ray" Marchand, 90, of Swansea, husband of the late Rhea (Gauthier) Marchand and the late Dorothy (Arruda) Marchand, died Thursday, July 18, 2013. A Navy veteran of WW II, First Class Petty Officer Marchand was a Patrol Bomber (PBY) Aviation Radioman. He owned and operated Guay Painting Co. A member of the Friends of the Swansea Library, he had a passion for gardening, reading and music, and a longtime hobby of raising rabbits. He was the father of Kenneth Marchand (Anna) of Swansea, Steven Marchand (Norma) of Westport, Linda Berube (Kenneth Souza) of Acushnet, Keith Marchand (Elizabeth) and Thomas Marchand (Sherry) all of Swansea and the late Robert Marchand; the grandfather of Kristy Simbro and Kyle, Rebecca, Michael, keith, William, Ryan, Kimberly, Jared and Katelyn Marchand; the brother of Claire Ritz of Fall River and the late Eleanor Barlow and is also survived by great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Following cremation, his funeral service will be held Saturday, August 10, at First Baptist Church, 200 No. Main St., Fall River at 10:00 AM. Visitation at the Church prior to the service from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. Please omit flowers. Donations to Smile Train, PO Box 96231, Washington DC 20090, appreciated.
