Raymond L. Lepage

Raymond L. LePage, 96, of Tiverton, husband of the late Adrienne (St.Amand) LePage, entered into rest Tuesday, August 9, 2016.

He was an Army veteran of WW II, he trained at Emory University in Atlanta Georgia as a surgical technician and served in a medical unit attached to General Patton's Third Army. He landed at Normandy treating the wounded from five major battles as US Forces crossed Europe, including the "Battle of the Bulge". He was also present at the liberation of the Nazi Concentration Camp in Ebensee, Austria. As the interpreter for his unit, and on the orders of his commanding officer, he negotiated the surrender of approximately 200 German Troops on the West Bank of the Enz River in Austria on May 6, 1945, two days before the German Capitulation.

An equipment specialist, he was employed at the Naval Underwater Systems Center, Newport for 32 years. He was past-commander of Post 5, Franco American War Veterans and a Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, Tiverton.

He leaves four children, Janet Martel and her husband Geffrey of Punta Gorda, FL, Gerald LePage and his wife Doreen of Tiverton, Annette Marinelli and her husband Anthony of Pennsauken, NJ and Aline Smiley and her husband Michael of Rehoboth; grandchildren, Aimee Berube (Scott), Geralyn Small, Pamela Ledoux (Keith), Gillian LePage, Alison Miller (Steven), Ian Smiley, Paige Smiley, A. J. Marinelli and Giovanni Marinelli; great-grandchildren, Apryl Deschenes, Sarah Martel, Kayla and Quentin Small, Jr., Scott and Zachary Berube and Rachelle Ledoux; siblings, Rene A. LePage of Somerset and Madeleine Poirier of South Windsor, CT and nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Alderic and Aldea (Remy) LePage and the brother of the late Ella St.Amand Ledoux, Lorraine Ledoux and Orient LePage.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 8:00 a.m. from the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass at St. Christopher Church, Tiverton at 9:00 a.m. Interment, Notre Dame Cemetery.

Visitation, Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Large parking area & barrier-free entrance at the rear of funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Child & Family Elder Services, 31 John Clarke Rd., Middletown RI 02842.
