Raymond G. Gauvin, Jr., 81, of Tucker St., Fall River, husband of Eveline (Demers) Gauvin, died Wednesday, September 17, 2008.
A Navy Sea Bees veteran of WW II, he served on the USS Hamul and USS Alcor. He received the World War II Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal and Asiatic Pacific Theatre Medal. He was employed by the Massachusetts Highway Department and the Fall River Housing Authority.
An avid sports fan, he was a founding member of St. Anne Little League. He also coached for the Maplewood Babe Ruth League and Milliken-Silva Basketball League. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, St. Anne Fraternity and the Liberal Club.
Besides his wife of 50 years, he leaves 5 sons, R. Gary Gauvin and his wife Cyndie of Swansea, Rick Gauvin and his wife Jennifer of Portsmouth, RI, and David Gauvin, Christopher Gauvin and his wife Lori, and Paul Gauvin, all of Fall River; 3 grandchildren, Matthew and Elyse Gauvin of Swansea and Luke Gauvin of Fall River; siblings, Rita Levitre of Florence, SC, Cecile Bowers of Fairhaven, and Paul Gauvin of Hyannis.
He was the son of the late Raymond and Yvonne (Arsenault) Gauvin, the father of the late Henri Gauvin, and the brother of the late Therese Padden.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 9:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in Holy Trinity Church at 10:00 AM. Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery.
Visitation, Friday 4:00 to 8:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent's Home, 2425 Highland Ave., Fall River MA 02720. Online guest book at AuclairFuneralHome.com
