Raymond N. Fiola, 92, retired Lieutenant and Chief of Maintenance for the Fall River Fire Department, a devoted family man and proud veteran, passed away on September 8, 2024, in his hometown of Fall River, Massachusetts. Born on January 2, 1932, Raymond led a life filled with service and dedication both to his country and to his community. He fought the largest fires in Fall River including Notre Dame Church fire and the Kerr Mill fire, Ray also built two fire stations, the Flint Reney/Eastwood Fire Station and the Candeias Fire Station. He was a member of FireFighter Association Local 1314.

Raymond served honorably in the United States Navy aboard the USS Salerno Bay during the Korean War, an experience that spoke to his commitment to his nation. Upon returning home, he continued his legacy of service by joining the Fall River Fire Department in 1965 where he dedicated 32 years and ultimately retired with the rank of Lieutenant and Chief of Maintenance in 1993. His career in the fire department was marked by bravery, camaraderie, and a steadfast commitment to the safety of his fellow citizens.

One of Raymond’s proudest accomplishments was building a home on Orswell Street.  for his beloved wife, Nancy E. (Masciarelli) Fiola, who passed away in 2021.

This act not only reflected his skill and determination but also his love and devotion to his family. His enduring contributions extended beyond his career, shaping the lives of those around him with kindness and support.

Raymond leaves behind a loving family, including his two sons, Gregory Fiola (wife Kathy) and Jeffrey Fiola (wife Roberta). nephew Terry Fiola, son-in-law, Edgar Souza.

He is reunited in spirit with his wife, Nancy, and his parents, Fortunate Fiola and Blanche (Levesque) Fiola.

As we remember Raymond N. Fiola, we honor a life filled with devotion, hard work, and unwavering love for his family and community. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A visitation will be held Friday, September 13 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St. Fall River.

His funeral service will take place in the funeral home at 11:00 AM.  Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, 1540 Stafford Rd. Fall River.
