He was the husband of Ivona Marques De Sa Moreira. Born in Santa Isabel, Lisbon, Portugal, he was the son of the late Jose Rodrigues Moreira and the late Isabel Chaves Moreira. Raul Moreira was a renowned Portuguese international photojournalist and freelance writer whose work has been published throughout the world. He started his activities in 1948. His belief in the freedom of speech and journalistic truth collided with the dictatorship and literary censorship that ruled Portugal at the time. As a result he went to Angola in Africa where he lived for nearly 20 years covering the colonial war and the civil war. He was also one of the pioneers who brought cable television to the African continent. He later returned to Portugal where he became well known working for two very prominent Portuguese periodicals. He has lived in the USA for the last nineteen years. He continued to publish his work with the Portuguese News Network and provided marketing consulting services to several businesses in the New England Area. He was the father of Raul Moreira (wife Aida), Paulo Moreira (wife Margarida Dias) Patricia Colburn (husband Rafe), and Rui Moreira, grandfather of Michael and Gabriella Moreira; brother of Maria Isabel Moreira Mouzinho & Helena Moreira Pires Edra.
