Placida Rosita Martinez) (Alonso) Faggioli

December 15, 1929 — August 1, 2017

Placida Rosita (Alonso Martinez) Desrosiers Faggioli, 87 of Fall River, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017 and went to rest in Heaven with the Holy-Father.

She was the wife of Dominick Faggioli, Jr. and the former wife of Richard Desrosiers.

Placida was born in Madrid, Spain, she was such beautiful newborn that her grandmother felt she was the perfect flower and never called her by her given name but rather "Rose".

She lived a wonderful life; encountered many trials and trepidations along the way; her grandparents and parents died before she turned ten years of age, she and her two brothers Antonio and Francisco became orphans raised by the Catholic convent, they had struggled on their own trying to survive in Europe during the time of The Great Depression; being young, no jobs to be found, food scarce they were forced at times to jump on trains while in motion hoping only for a fresh piece of fruit.

Years later she encountered another personal tragedy; the loss of her first born, and only daughter, Magdalena as an adolescent. However she still was blessed with four children; all boys. She prayed for another daughter; Placida's last child Timothy Desrosiers eventually was doubly-blessed to give her two beautiful granddaughters in which her prayers were answered, she was also blessed with her wonderful grandson, Joshua Desrosiers. "Rose" loved children, they would put a smile on her face.

Rosita was for many years a seamstress until she became a wonderful loving mom of her four boys. She loved being a domestic engineer; cleaning, cooking, and taking care of her children gave her the most satisfaction; even though she had been approached by numerous movie producers and recording artist interested in her ability to sing, dance and just pure beauty.

She loved performing Flamenco and singing many songs from her native country Spain. She was an amazing cook and you could never deny her offer of seconds.
She enjoyed spending time with grandchildren immensely and later on had become ill and resided in a nursing home till her last of days.

Rosita was a kind, passionate, and loving mom, grand-mom, and person; a friend to all who knew her with a beautiful wit, laugh and smile that would touch your soul. Many took safe haven to her home when in need or distress; she never turned away one in need. And she will be forever missed and remembered with fond loving memories.

She leaves four sons, Timothy T. Desrosiers (Liz Tucker) and Paul Desrosiers, all of Fall River, Henrique Desrosiers (Linda) of Illinois and Ricardo Desrosiers (Annette) of Tiverton; grandchildren, Rebecca A. Desrosiers (Adam Gendreau) of Little Compton, Katharine B. Desrosiers of Tiverton and Joshua Desrosiers (Emma Fiore) of Seekonk; great-grandchildren, Mason, Jonathan, Ethan, Brantley and Bailey; and brothers, Francisco Alonso Martinez and Antonio Alonso Martinez. She was the mother of the late Magdelena and the daughter of the late Francisco and Magdelena (Alonso) Martinez.
