Paul G. Deslauriers

January 20, 1949 — January 11, 2022

Paul G. Deslauriers died peacefully on January 11, 2022, at the RI Veterans Home in Bristol, RI. Paul was born on January 20, 1949, in Fall River, MA. Paul served in the United States Air Force; after his discharge, he worked for many years as a security guard in various area facilities, including American Tourister and American Greeting Cards.

Paul was the oldest child of the late Gerard Deslauriers and the late Laurette (Houde) Deslauriers. He is survived by his siblings, sisters Lorraine (Leo) Caine, Pauline (Raymond) Ellison, and Claire (Jeff) Halladay; his brother, Raymond (Christine) Deslauriers; his nieces Karyn Smith and Amy Deslauriers; and his nephews Matthew Smith and Zachary Halladay. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert Deslauriers. The family offers thanks and gratitude to the staff and nurses of the RI Veterans Home, who provided him with excellent care during the last several years of his life.

Paul will be missed by family, including many cousins, at parties and holiday gatherings. Paul lived a solitary life by choice, but he loved being with his family. He didn't need to be part of the conversation, but he always enjoyed sharing in the laughter and jokes. Paul was a loyal and reliable brother and uncle who was always willing to lend a hand.  He cared deeply for his nieces and nephews, and spent many hours babysitting them, letting them eat bowls of Cool Whip, and putting together all of their Christmas toys. Paul spent the last years of his life on his favorite hobbies: building model cars and trucks and watching classic cartoons and movies.

The family plans a private memorial at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor can be made to Operation Stand Down Rhode Island at https://osdri.org/ .
