Patricia A. "Pat" (Commender) Smith

Patricia A. "Pat" (Commender) Smith, 59, of Somerset, former director of the Fall River Salvation Army Day Care, died Saturday, March 1, 2014. One of 6 core members of the Coalition Against Poverty, she enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and her beloved dogs "Frankie" and "Gracie", gardening and traveling to New York to visit family and friends. She leaves 3 children, Diane Joyce and her husband Clement of Somerset, James Smith of New Bedford and Nicholas Smith of Fall River; siblings, Susan Edwards and Joseph Commender, both of Staten Island, NY and Peter Commender of Long Island, NY and nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Millward) Commender and the sister of the late Christine Calkins, James Commender and Nancy Gilberti. Her funeral service will be held Wednesday at 12:00 noon at the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River. Cremation to follow. Visitation, Tuesday 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
