Patricia A. (Pacheco) Carreiro

June 27, 1935 — August 2, 2022

Patricia A. Carreiro 87, of Bradford Avenue, Fall River, beloved wife of Thomas J. Carreiro, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on August 2, 2022.

She was the daughter of the late Manuel Pacheco and the late Mary (Cabral) Pacheco. Patricia is survived by her husband Thomas of over 66 years, her children Kathleen M Fowler and husband David of Cocoa Beach, FL, Steven T. Carreiro and fiancée Jennifer Bryant of Plympton, Christopher J. Carreiro (partner Elizabeth Branconnier) of Dartmouth and Paula Mailloux and husband John of Westport, as well as her grandchildren Jason Carreiro (longtime girlfriend Jaime Lacroix), Rachael Manasco, Brittany Alfaro, Mason Carreiro, Nicholas Bryant, great grandchild Jacob Carreiro and brother Robert Pacheco of Tiverton, RI.

Patricia, a lifelong resident of Fall River, MA, graduated from BMC Durfee High School. Pat was a stay-at-home mom until her children were older and then became a Medical Billing Specialist for Pediatrics Associates of Fall River before retiring to spend more time with her husband Tom and family. She was active in the St Louis Church community, deepened and strengthened her faith attending Cursillo and also became a Eucharistic Minister.

Family and faith were driving forces in her life, from which she drew incredible strength. She had many health issues from childhood throughout adulthood but never allowed them to hamper her zest for life. Pat survived breast cancer in her 50’s when her doctors gave her little chance of survival, proving she was determined to live life to its fullest.

Family trips to New Hampshire during summer months were a source of many great memories and countless stories filled with laughter. Pat and Tom travelled extensively. Portugal, France, Germany, Spain and of course Disney World were just a few places visited. Pat and Tom were inseparable during their 66+ years of marriage--a true love story.

Cooking was her passion. Pat loved watching cooking shows and would try various recipes, adding her own special twist. Preparing large family dinners and subsequent conversation for hours at the dinner table gave her endless joy. She had a great sense of humor and laughter always filled family visits.

An extremely generous person, Pat felt she lived a blessed life and always wanted to give back to others. Among her various charities St Jude Children’s Research Hospital was her favorite. Even upon her death she wanted to help people and per her wishes her body was donated to Harvard Medical School Anatomical Gift Program.

Thank you all for your love and support during this very difficult time. A special thank you to Helen Carrier, a very close friend to Pat for over 50 years, who had always been there for her and to Southcoast Visiting Nurse Association Hospice for their extraordinary care.
