Pablo R. Cordero, MD, of Fall River and Osprey, Florida, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at his home in Fall River. He shared the past fifty years with his devoted friend and caregiver Albert N. Cartier. Born in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines on June 30, 1931, he was the son of the late Mayor Andres Cordero and Sergia (Roldan) Cordero. Dr. Cordero, the youngest of nine children, is survived by two sisters, Rosaria "YaYong" Cordero and Lucia Soralno of the Philippines and nieces and nephews including Jasmine Claridad Crowe (husband Bob) of Mill Valley, CA, Benjamin Claridad (wife Maria) of Sacramento, CA, Cindy Tietjen (husband Attorney Tim) of Lafayette, CA, Anna Stankey (husband Matthew) of New Fairfield, CT, Lourdes "Cherry" Catalino Ulip of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, Andy Cordero of Newark, CA, and Pinky Cordero of Las Vegas, and many nieces and nephews in the Philippines. He was predeceased by siblings, Jose, Jamie, Oscar and Remedios Cordero, Angelita Claridad, and Feliza Del Santos, and an uncle, Bishop Ignatio Cordero. A graduate of St. Thomas University, Manilla, Dr. Cordero was resident physician at St. Luke's Hospital, New Bedford, practiced at Boston's Long Island Hospital, was Emergency Room physician at St. Anne's Hospital, Fall River, practiced at Long Island's Central Suffolk and Southampton hospitals and Venice Regional Hospital, Florida and was in private practice in Venice, retiring in 1979 due to a stroke. A proud US citizen, he was a member of the Philippine Dance Troupe and an Honorary Member of the BMC Durfee High School, Class of 1937. His funeral will held Friday at 10:00 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a concelebrated funeral mass in Holy Cross Church of Saints Peter and Paul Parish, Pulaski St., at 11:00 AM. Entombment, Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation, Thursday 4:00 to 8:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home. Donations, in lieu of flowers, to Saints Peter and Paul Parish, 250 Snell St., Fall River MA 02721 or the charity of one's choice appreciated.
