Omer J. Martineau

June 3, 1919 — April 9, 2010

Omer J. "Pete" Martineau of Westport, MA, husband of Eva M. (Talbot) Martineau, died April 9, 2010. The son of the late Omer J. Martineau and Antoinette (Campbell) Martineau, he was raised by the late Joseph and Bella (Campbell) Caron. He was a graduate of Mount St. Charles Academy, Woonsocket, RI. An Army veteran of the 1884th Combat Engineers during WW II, he was employed by MetLife, Engelhard Industries, St. Yves Motor Sales and Captain P J's Seafood Galley. He was a member of the St. Jean Baptiste choir. Pete enjoyed traveling, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Tiverton, RI. In addition to his devoted wife of 66 years, he leaves 4 children, Omer "Jay" Martineau III and his wife Susan of Westport, MA C. Z. Lovecraft of San Jose, CA, Suzanne A. Gamache and her husband Dr. Robert Gamache of Dunstable, MA, and Charles D. Martineau and his wife Janice of So. Dartmouth, MA; 5 grandchildren, Adam Martineau and wife Sara; Jussi Gamache and husband Sean Drinkwater, Peter Gamache and wife Meaghan Sinclair, Dami Elle Martineau and Cole Martineau; and great-granddaughter, Jessie Martineau. He is also survived by stepsiblings, Bertrand Caron and Jacqueline Pelletier Lockwood, both of Florida. He was the brother of the late Annette Martineau DeCourcy and stepbrother of the late Roger Caron. His funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:30 AM from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 10:00 AM. Burial, Notre Dame Cemetery. Visitation, Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. LARGE PARKING AREA and BARRIER-FREE ENTRANCE at the rear of funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Susan G. Komen for a Cure, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309 or the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
